And Vimby really liked a bunch of the "reject" tracks we posted, which was cool — maybe we're being too hard on ourselves, or perhaps just getting paranoid from all the haters that hang out in our comments. What else, what else... the Stereogum comment thread on Beyoncé vs Fleet Foxes was pretty awesome. Oh, and on Christmas, ABX's Survivor vs Glass Candy jam was on Simon Iddol's Vavá mix on Spain's RNE Radio 3 (click on "escúchalo" for the tracklist).

Glass Candy put out Deep Gems, a record of singles and b-sides, which had tons of synthy instrumental sections just waiting to be mixed with something. Unfortunately I decided to mix it with Weezer. There should not be a dance mix of Weezer. Sorry, Rivers.

This year for Christmas I got this mashup of two of my favorite groups. It's as if I got a haphazardly-assembled hybrid of the Wii and the Xbox 360 that doesn't work quite as well as either would on its own (if even at all), but the idea of it is kind of fun.

It's definitely been a busy year for the Hood -- posting slowed down a considerable amount from last year, probably because we spent a lot of our weekends out and about DJing. Even still, we still knocked out a fair amount of tracks and a bunch of different mixtapes: Vs Lykke Li, Vs Tobacco/Aesop, The Hood Volume Three, and Vs Chicago — which Current TV recently named as their #3 mixtape of the year:



So: onward with this year's batch of not-so-sure-about-this-one Hood tracks. This one finds Craig Diamond AKA The Street Narrator in cahoots with Bradford Cox and company.

We ended last year posting tracks that didn't quite work for whatever reason. We're back with some new ones to close out 2008. And if you're wondering why these were rejected and that track with Ne-Yo wasn't, I really have no good answer for you. So don't ask.

The Beyonce and Fleet Foxes songs for this track were two favorites from the past year, but sounded like a mess when I was trying to put them together. I put in some extra work to clean it up for this post, and now I kind of like it.
